Rory McIlroy has asked his wife to "smack" him if he ever complains again about the burden of wearing the green jacket, while admitting that every replay of his Masters victory still brings him to tears.
Rory McIlroy is still savoring his green jacket victory, so much so that he's entrusted his wife, Erica, with a rather unusual task.
The Northern Irishman confessed at the CNBC CEO Council Forum that he caught himself grumbling about having to wear the famous Masters blazer while traveling, before quickly correcting himself.
"If you ever hear me complain about having to wear that thing again, hit me," McIlroy said to his wife.

"I was in India a few weeks ago and in the Middle East for the last two weeks, and in most places you go, when there are events, people want to see the green jacket," he explained. I complained a bit about having to wear it in Abu Dhabi and told my wife, Erica, "If you ever hear me complain about having to wear this thing again, hit me or do something, because I've waited my whole life to wear it, and now I'm complaining about wearing it."

The first European to achieve a career Grand Slam, he also admitted that simply watching the footage of his victorious playoff at Augusta in April still overwhelms him with emotion.
"Honestly, I dreamed of this moment for so long, and it lived up to everything I had imagined, and even more," he confided. "If I watch that final scene where I fall to my knees on the 18th green, I still have a hard time not crying."
The Rules of Golf are a set of standards and procedures by which the sport of golf should be played. They are jointly written and administered by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, the governing body of golf worldwide, except in the United States and Mexico, which are governed by the United States Golf Association. An expert committee composed of members of the R&A and the USGA oversees and refines the rules every four years. The latest revision took effect on January 1, 2016. Amendments to the Rules of Golf are generally divided into two main categories: those that improve understanding and those that reduce penalties in certain cases to ensure balance. The rulebook, entitled "Rules of Golf," is published regularly and also includes rules governing amateur status. In Italy, the Italian Golf Federation is responsible for overseeing competitions by enforcing the rules issued by the R&A, ensuring that these rules are observed by clubs, associations, and their members, and managing the resulting sporting justice, protecting their interests abroad.
