Gallinari entered the NBA as the sixth pick in the 2008 draft by the New York Knicks, spending two and a half seasons at Madison Square Garden before being shipped to Denver in the Carmelo Anthony blockbuster.
From there, he established himself as one of the leagues most reliable stretch forwards, spending six seasons with the Nuggets before later suiting up for the Clippers, Thunder, Hawks, Wizards, Pistons, and Bucks.
Known for his size and smooth perimeter game, the six-foot-ten forward averaged 14.9 points and 4.7 rebounds while shooting 38.1 percent from beyond the arc for his career. Across 777 NBA games, he knocked down 1456 three-pointers and helped shape the modern stretch-four archetype.
Before and after his NBA stops, Gallinari also logged time in Europe and Puerto Rico.
His last on-court appearance came with Italy at last summers EuroBasket, where he continued to represent his home country with pride. There was speculation he might return to Europe for one more season, but he ultimately chose to close the chapter at age 37.
