Carlos Alcaraz closed his remarkable 2025 season a week earlier than planned. The 22-year-old had to withdraw from the Davis Cup Finals after experiencing themuscle edema in his right hamstring during his ATP Finals campaign.
World no. 1 battled with discomfort in his right hand and embraced his best campaign in Turin, beating four rivals before losing the title clash to Jannik Sinner in two tight sets.
Carlos asked for a medical timeout against Jannik and finished the match with his right thigh heavily taped. He still traveled to Bologna and underwent an MRI, hoping to lead Spain in the Davis Cup Finals.
However, the tests confirmed significant overload and swelling. While avoiding tear, the injuryrequired immediate rest to avoid more serious issues. Thus, world no. 1 withdrew and headed home to Spain.

Alcaraz left Italy frustrated but careful after a grueling season that saw him entering 80 matches and reaching 11 finals. The young gun is receiving treatment, hoping to recover within two weeks.
The tone around his recovery is more optimistic than alarming. The six-time Major winner hopes to enjoy an extra week of recovery and prepare for the exhibition matches against Frances Tiafoe and Joao Fonseca in December.
Carlos and his team remain confident in complete recovery and pain-free off-season. After securing year-end no. 1 honor and lifting eight ATP trophies, Alcaraz now shifts to healing and resting.
The young gun will try to prepare for 2026 and attack the Career Grand Slam at the Australian Open in January.
"I was really looking forward to playing for Spain. However, it has been a long season, with highs and lows. Right now, I'm receiving treatment to recover as soon as possible after feeling a little pain in the hamstrings.

I'm a bit sad about missing the Davis Cup, but I had to end my season. I'm not worried at all. I really wanted to compete this week, but my body did not feel good at all. I now have an additional week to recover, which is good.
I have two weeks before facing Frances and Joao, and I will fully recover," Carlos Alcaraz said.
