Triple H isnt afraid to talk about WWEs past even when it includes someone as controversial as Donald Trump.
While appearing on the All-In podcast, the WWE Chief Content Officer opened up about Trumps success in the company and why he connected with wrestling fans long before he stepped into the political arena.
When comparing Trump to The Rock another WWE alumnus linked to politics Triple H explained that the key to both mens success is charisma. And when it came to Trump, he didnt hold back in describing how the former presidents approach fit perfectly with the over-the-top world of WWE.
Then came the part that raised eyebrows.
He added that The Rock shares that same innate ability to connect with people, calling that charisma what drives the planet.
Triple H didnt outright praise or condemn Trump but he did offer a raw look at how WWE helped shape his public persona. And considering how polarizing Trump is today, its a notable statement from one of WWEs top executives.
Trump first got involved during the 1980s, but his most infamous run came in 2007s Battle of the Billionaires at WrestleMania 23. Trump backed Bobby Lashley in a match against Vince McMahons pick, Umaga with the losing billionaire agreeing to have their head shaved. After Lashleys win, Trump personally shaved McMahon bald in front of a sold-out stadium. He even took a Stone Cold Stunner from Steve Austin for good measure
Years later, WWE inducted Trump into its Hall of Fame (Celebrity Wing) in 2013 a move that has sparked heated debate ever since he entered the political world. But no matter where you stand, his WWE chapter is permanently etched in the companys history.
Triple Hs comments paint a clear picture of how the wrestling business values presence and personality over perfection. And when youre not afraid to look ridiculous? That might just make you unstoppable.
