Judging Novak Djokovic's season is not easy because being one of the best players in tennis history fans expect him to always win at least one Grand Slam title. The former world No.1 became the oldest player ever to reach at least the semifinals in every major tournament in the same season, but he never felt like he could lift the trophy due to the dominance established by young champions Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
The Serbian legend who has no intention of giving up and wants to continue competing at the highest level as long as he feels the right motivation took away the satisfaction of winning the 100th title of his formidable career and qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin as third in the ATP Race, despite having played only 12 tournaments in 2025.
Djokovic isnt planning on retiring
The 24-time Grand Slam champion who was defeated in the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters 1000 before participating in the 'Six Kings Slam' in Saudi Arabia last week has only confirmed the Athens ATP 250 between now and the end of the season and recently announced his decision to skip the Paris Masters 1000. It is unclear at the moment whether or not the 38-year-old from Belgrade will participate in the 2025 edition of the ATP Finals in Turin, after missing this event in the last edition as well.

In a recent interview, former American player Steve Johnson made his honest assessment of Novak's 2025 season: Its been good, but not good enough to where hes wanted to be. By anybody elses standards other than his own, its been a great year. Has made semis of all the Slams, he just hasnt gotten to number 25, which I believe is the only thing that he is still kind of reaching for at this point in his career.
Djokovic's next huge goal will be the 2026 Australian Open scheduled for next January, where he will try to lift his 25th Major title (his 11th at Melbourne Park).
