Becky Lynch returned at WrestleMania 41, teaming up with Lyra Valkyria to win the WWE Womens Tag Team Titles, but on the April 21st episode of Raw, she shocked fans by turning on Valkyria. However, it appears that Becky Lynchs heel turn has been criticized for being dead on arrival.
While speaking to The Stevie Richards Show, Stevie Richards talked about Becky Lynchs current run as a heel and said it isnt working as well as when she was a babyface.
Richard believes that Becky Lynch, like John Cena, is someone fans naturally like, no matter what. Even when Cena gets mixed reactions from the crowd, Becky is still mostly cheered, or at least people pay attention to her. But now some fans dont know how to react to her, and that kind of confusion usually isnt a good sign. It shows people might be losing interest.
Richards said that Becky and Cena both act like heels by saying things like, I only care about myself, or You made me do this, but it doesnt feel real anymore. He also mentioned that its hard to believe Becky as a heel when shes also been open about being a mom, something fans usually admire.
Richards added that trying to switch back and forth between being a babyface and a heel too often can make fans stop caring, and thats the worst thing that can happen to a wrestler, similar to Paul Orndorff.
Richards also said that Becky didnt help Lyra Valkyria look good. He said Lyra looked inexperienced in the ring and struggled on the microphone. The storyline between them felt weak and he stated that Lynchs heel turn has been dead on arrival.
Becky Lynch lost to Lyra Valkyria at the Backlash Premium Live Event and now its apparent that Lynch will be feuding with Bayley, as Lynch took out Bayley at WrestleMania 41. Therefore, well have to wait and see whether Lynchs heel character will see more development once her feud with Bayley starts.
