EmailPrintOpen Extended ReactionsThe Cincinnati Bengals are signing former Kansas City Chiefs safety Bryan Cook to a three-year, $42.5 million deal, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.Cook, 26, had the best season of his four-year career in 2025, recording a career-high six pass breakups and 85 tackles. As a starter in every game for the Chiefs, Cook proved to be one of the most reliable defenders on the team and a player who has improved throughout his time in the NFL.The Chiefs selected Cook with the 62nd pick in the 2022 draft. As a prominent member of one of the franchise's most impressive draft classes, Cook helped the Chiefs become the league's newest dynasty, winning two Super Bowl rings playing alongside fellow teammates such as defensive end George Karlaftis, running back Isiah Pacheco, linebacker Leo Chenal and cornerbacks Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. In six postseason games, Cook recorded 17 tackles, with his biggest highlight a leaping interception in Super Bowl LIX.While learning and playing under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, Cook developed into an interchangeable player in the secondary, a safety who could be the lone deep defender or a safety who could effectively disguise the Chiefs' coverage or blitz. Cook became a first-time starter in 2023, a year that ended with him sustaining a season-ending left ankle injury. But before needing surgery, Cook in 12 games produced 42 tackles, an interception and two fumble recoveries, one he returned 59 yards for a touchdown in a win over the Miami Dolphins. With Cook on their roster, the Chiefs at one point won nine consecutive postseason games.ESPN's Nate Taylor contributed to this report.
