
EmailPrintOpen Extended ReactionsThe Los Angeles Rams have added another former Kansas City Chiefs cornerback, reaching agreement on a three-year deal with Jaylen Watson, agent Collin Roberts of Excel told ESPN's Adam Schefter.The Rams agreed to trade for Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie last week and on Sunday made him the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history. McDuffie agreed to a four-year, $124 million extension that includes $100 million guaranteed, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.Watson, 27, had the best season of his four-year career in 2025, recording a career-high two interceptions, six pass breakups, two sacks and 64 tackles. In 15 games, Watson demonstrated that he can be an effective defender, whether in press-man or zone coverage. He surrendered only one touchdown when in coverage as the nearest defender.The Chiefs selected Watson with the 243rd pick in the 2022 draft. Throughout his time in Kansas City, Watson developed into a prominent member of one of the franchise's most impressive draft classes. Watson helped the Chiefs win two consecutive Super Bowls to help the franchise become the league's newest dynasty, playing alongside fellow members such as cornerback Trent McDuffie, defensive end George Karlaftis, running back Isiah Pacheco, linebacker Leo Chenal and safety Bryan Cook. In 10 playoff games, Watson produced two interceptions, six pass breakups and one fumble recovery.Last year was the first time Watson was able to fulfill his goal of being a starter for a full season. He played a career-high 868 defensive snaps (96%) for longtime coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.Watson's biggest highlight of his career occurred during his rookie season, when he made a pivotal interception that he returned for a 99-yard touchdown in a win over the Los Angeles Chargers.ESPN's Nate Taylor contributed to this report.
