Rey Mysterio may be heading back to the injured list after what looked to be a legitimate setback during his match on the January 26, 2026 edition of WWE RAW in Toronto.
The match saw Mysterio take on Austin Theory in a one-on-one contest that was part of a larger segment involving Theorys faction, The Vision. While Mysterio was able to finish the match, he was visibly favoring his shoulder afterward and did not participate in the post-match beatdown angle.
Instead, Rey remained on the ring apron as medical personnel checked on him. The referee was seen throwing up the X hand signalWWEs standard sign to indicate a real injury. While that moment wasnt lingered on during the broadcast, F4WOnlines Bryan Alvarez has confirmed that Mysterio was legitimately hurt during the match.
Following the chaos caused by Theory, Bronson Reed, Logan Paul, and Bron Breakker, RAW quickly shifted to a Natalya promo, and Mysterio was quietly helped to the back by officials.
This comes at a difficult time for the legendary luchador, who only recently returned to action in November 2025 after recovering from a groin injury. Whether this new issue will affect his Royal Rumble status remains to be seen.
Mysterio wasnt the only one dealing with a potential injury scare on RAW. WWE Womens World Champion Stephanie Vaquer also looked like she may have tweaked her ankle during a high-impact spot in the six-woman tag team match earlier in the night. While she went on to brawl with Raquel Rodriguez in later backstage segments, there was noticeable discomfort during a sequence in the match involving a dive to the outside.
Vaquer was moving better by the end of the night, but her statuslike Reysshould be closely watched heading into Royal Rumble weekend.
WWE has a stacked lineup heading into Saturdays Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, but these injury concerns could change plans fast. With Rey Mysterios status now in question and Stephanie Vaquer walking a fine line, the road to WrestleMania may already be taking some unexpected detours
Do you think Rey Mysterio should sit out the Royal Rumble to recover, or is there still room for one last big moment? Drop your thoughts in the comments below.
