WWE Monday Night RAW took place on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The show served as the go-home RAW ahead of the Royal Rumble, which was set for August 31 in Saudi Arabia. That being said, Gunther was on hand to speak about his match against AJ Styles that could be the Phenomenal Ones last.
During this weeks WWE RAW, Gunther had a chance to sit down with Michael Cole for a face-to-face interview. Cole started off by asking why Gunther backed AJ into a corner and forced him to put his title on the line.
Gunther replied that Michael Cole must not understand. The thing is that he has nothing to gain if he just beats AJ Styles again. Now, he has something phenomonal to gain, because he can beat him and end his career.
Gunther went on to speak about retiring Goldberg and John Cena. He said that AJ Styles probably has a big farewell tour in mind, but Gunther wants to take that away. He was speaking about old timers.
Then he asked Michael Cole how long he plans on sticking around to chase another moment. Gunther threatned Michael Cole, saying he could kick that chair away from Cole and end his career right then and there.
However, Gunther didnt hurt Michael Cole. He only threatened him. Gunther made it clear that he wants Cole to be on hand to announce AJ Styles last match at the Royal Rumble.
AJ Styles has already made it clear that 2026 will be his last year. We will have to see how things pan out in Saudi Arabia, but he certainly has a huge match against Gunther.
