Former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel is expected to become the Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator barring a change of heart, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter and Jeff Darlington on Tuesday night.
McDaniel has informed other teams that they are out of the running for his services and he is meeting with the Chargers Tuesday night, sources said.
McDaniel will replace Greg Roman, who was fired as offensive coordinator two days after the Chargers' 16-3 playoff loss to the New England Patriots.
The Dolphins fired McDaniel after a 7-10 season, the franchise's second consecutive losing season after making the playoffs in 2022 and 2023. McDaniel had success with Miami's offense earlier in his tenure, taking a team that hadn't finished in the top 10 in total yards since 1995 to the NFL's top offense in 2023.
