The January 20 episode of NXT carried on the story that centered around the NXT Title. Once Oba Femi left the ring with the title in the middle of it after beating Leon Slater, everyones been wondering what the company will do. That being said, Tony DAngelo took the attention with a pair of attacks.
A tournament of matches was put in place to decide who would get into a six-man ladder match. The winner of that match will become the new champion. Ricky Saints was already in the match, but we got two more entrants this week. Little did they know that Tony DAngelo was lurking in the shadows, and he was ready to attack.
Josh Briggs and Shiloh Hill squared off in a WWE NXT Championship No. 1 Contenders Ladder Match qualifier. In the end, after a hard-fought match, Josh Briggs lost to the LFG season two winner. After that match, Tony DAngelo showed up to attack both men.
In another qualifier, Super Sean Legacy went head-to-head with Eli Knight. Both fresh EVOLVE call-ups wanted to prove themselves in NXT. In the end, Sean Legacy was able to pull off the win to qualify.
After that second qualifying match, Tony DAngelo showed up to destroy the competitors. Then the police showed up, and Tony calming offered himself up for the handcuffs and he was led off.
Only time will tell who wins the NXT Title when everything is said and done. They are certainly giving the subject a lot of attention, and it should be that way for a title with that much prestige.
