AEW has a lot of stars, but few would put their bodies on the line like Darby Allin. Stings protg has racked up a ton of injuries in his career, and hes currently out of action. That time away from the ring may not last long.
Darby Allin was pulled from the AEW Continental Classic earlier this month, but there is now an update on his status. This will give his fans a lot more hope about 2026.
During the December 6 episode of AEW Collision, it was announced that Darby Allin had been removed from the 2025 Continental Classic due to injury. A promo aired with Allin confirming the decision and saying that Jack Perry would take his spot in the Gold League.
Allin said the call came from the AEW doctor and made it clear he was not happy about being taken out. He said Perry could take his place and hoped he would win the tournament.
The injury happened during Allins November 26 match on Dynamite against Kevin Knight. He was hospitalized afterward and later released. At the time, he was not cleared to continue wrestling and was recovering at home.
Jack Perry officially entered the Gold League, to replace Darby Allin, alongside Kazuchika Okada, Kyle Fletcher, PAC, Mike Bailey, and Kevin Knight. Fletcher was leading the block with six points. Okada had three. Allin had zero after his loss to Knight.
That left questions about how Perrys points would be handled and how the tournament would move forward. There is now a new update on Allins condition.
According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select, Darby Allin has been medically cleared. After that report, Gabe Kidd challenged Allin to a match at AEW Worlds End. We will have to see how long it will be until Darby Allin comes back.
Allin is no longer in the Continental Classic, but he is back in the mix and now has an issue to deal with outside the tournament. Obviously, his return to the fold will be widely accepted by fans.
