For the first time since 2020, Roger Federer is returning to Melbourne Park. Tennis Australia has prepared a stage worthy of one of the sport's greatest artists after launching a special new tradition in 2026.
On Saturday, 17 January, the organizers of the first Major of the season will introduce a spectacular inaugural Opening Ceremony, the night before main-draw action begins.
Federer will headline a star-packed exhibition titled the 'Battle of the World No. 1s,' stepping onto Rod Laver Arena alongside some of most iconic rivals and fellow legends. Andre Agassi, Patrick Rafter and Lleyton Hewitt will join him for a celebration of eras, styles and memories.
The event is designed to celebrate the champions who have defined the tournament and shaped generations of fans. The special night will highlight the sport's past but also its enduring legacy.

Roger will stand in the center of it, proudlywinning six Australian Open crowns and displaying elegance and dominance few players can match Down Under.
The appearance offers the Swiss icon something he never truly had - a proper farewell to the Australian fans who supported him through some of the finest moments of his early and late career.
The Basel native is 102-15 in Melbourne, having won six titles between 2004 and 2018. He embraced some of the finest Australian Open title matches, sharing a special connection with Melbourne Park ever since his first visit.
