They turned a baseball venue into a tennis stage and drew thousands of fans eager to see something fresh and unexpected. The Spaniard and the Brazilian made sure to provide a memorable night for the fans.
Carlos and Joao trained at Wimbledon this year. Now, they got a chance to compete in front of the crowd, which could become a regular scene in 2026. They provided explosive shots and enjoyed every moment of their duel.
The six-time Major winner praised the upcoming star and his powerful game, delighted to share a unique stage with him. The El Palmar native also mentioned the unique scenery at the stadium he never visited before.
Carlos claimed the opener with a late break. Joao dominated the second set after scoring multiple breaks. A teenager raced into a 5-0 lead in the match tie break before world no. 1 turned the tables and clinched it 10-8.
"Joao has arrived on the Tour with great strength. He has a great game, and I hope it was an entertaining match for the fans. It was my first time in a baseball stadium, so it's incredible to be able to play here and help bring tennis to new places and in front of new people.
It's unusual to see us play in such a setting, but it was special to do it with Joao. Coming back to Miami and feeling the energy of the crowd is always something very special for me.
It was a great opportunity and a truly unique moment," Carlos Alcaraz said.
