Carlos Alcaraz congratulated Italy on their Davis Cup win and also sent a message to his team, saying that they "fall together and get back up together."
Without Alcaraz - who pulled out of the event in Bologna just before the start due to an unfortunate hamstring injury - Spain still managed to reach the final. They were represented by Jaume Munar and Pablo Carreno Busta in singles, and Marcel Granollers and Pedro Martinez in doubles.
On Sunday, the Spanish side took on host Italy in the final and picked up a 0-2 loss after Carreno Busta lost to Matteo Berrettini and Munar fell just short in a three-setter to Flavio Cobolli.

Alcaraz: We fell together and we will get back up together
Congrats to Italy for another Davis Cup! Very proud of our people! Amazing! We landed on our feet. We fell together. And we'll get back up together. We'll keep dreaming. We'll be back," the world No. 1 wrote in an Instagram Story.
After Alcaraz withdrew, Spain was all but a favorite for the title. But they refused to quit and managed to upset the Czech Republic and Germany - who, on paper, were the favorites to beat the Spanish side.
"Regarding this team, I must say above all that they are wonderful people, and that is the most important thing... I really enjoyed seeing how they supported each other and gained more and more confidence. For me, as captain, it's wonderful," Spanish Davis Cup team captain Ferrer said after the final loss.

Spanish captain Ferrer also underlined that losing the final was "not the end of the world."
"In the end, that's sport and you have to accept it, it's not the end of the world," Ferrer noted.
Alcaraz will hope to be healthy around this time next year and try to win his first Davis Cup title.
