Jordan Spieth has represented the US team at the Ryder Cup for years, from 2014 to 2023. The 32-year-old golfer had hoped to secure a spot on the team this year, but unfortunately, the American was not in the right form and failed to make it. Watching his team at Bethpage Black and not being there must have been a difficult moment for Jordan Spieth.

The experienced American revealed in an interview with NBC how he felt about not being selected for the US team. He pointed out that at first he didn't even want to follow the Ryder Cup, but he still wanted to find out how his team played. Although they improved their overall score on the last day and were on the verge of an incredible turnaround, the US team was unable to make up the huge gap.

"It was hard," Spieth told NBC this week. "I didn't watch much at the beginning. I was trying to maybe get away for a little while, but I'd still pull up my phone and check out every match.

"Then on Sunday, we were actually traveling back to town, and I got to watch the singles, and it obviously got very exciting at the end."

Spieth shares his goals

Jordan Spieth doesn't blame anyone, but believes that he could have been much better this year and thus secured his spot on the team. The well-known golfer admits that his absence from the Ryder Cup took some of his motivation away, but he believes that such humiliations can be a strong wind at his back and help him get back in shape.

Watching this season, American golf seemed to lack motivation at times. Being a dominant figure on the golf scene for years can sometimes make a golfer lose the drive they once had. However, judging by his words, Spieth is again motivated to be a dominant figure.
