Despite losing the final of the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin to his main rival Jannik Sinner yesterday, Carlos Alcaraz can still be proud of his performances in the last ATP tournament of the season which was played in the worst conditions for his tennis.
It is no secret that the world number 1 has some problems expressing his full potential in indoor conditions and was back from the bad elimination in the second round of the Paris Masters 1000, which is why he arrived in Turin with several doubts. The 22-year-old Spaniard put in three excellent performances in the round robin and took the pressure off his shoulders, as those results allowed him to confirm the top position in the ATP rankings until the end of the year.

The star from Murcia then liquidated Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semifinals and also put Sinner in serious trouble in the final, but the defending champion managed to make the difference in the decisive moments. The six-time Grand Slam champion had a set point in the first set and was ahead by a break in the second set, but he made some wrong choices in some phases and had to give up after more than two hours.
Alcaraz just fell short of the ATP Finals title
During yesterday's final, Carlitos also felt discomfort in his thigh and will investigate this situation in the coming hours. He will be one of the protagonists of the Davis Cup Finals in Bologna this week, before playing a couple of exhibition matches in the United States early next month.

Before the start of the new season, the top two players in the world will face each other in an exhibition match scheduled in Seoul on January 10.
