Coco Gauff, a 21-year-old American, had serious ambitions at the WTA Finals in Riyadh. While the public expected Gauff to win, Pegula managed to lift the trophy with a great performance. Jessica had nothing but praise for the young American, taking her chance and thus taking a big step forward.
Looking at her last match, it seems that Gauff had several issues, but mostly with her serve. Although there has been some improvement over the past few weeks, the 21-year-old has run into trouble again, committing a whopping 17 double faults.
Gauff spoke honestly about her serve in a media interview after the match. She explained that the second set looked much better, but that she still ran into some problems.
The third set was again a nightmare for the young tennis player, who could not find her rhythm and beat her opponent. However, Gauff is aware of her potential and quality, stressing that this will be an important lesson and a chance to improve things in the next match.
I mean, I served a bit better in that second set, a lot more aces, I dont know what the stats were, but I definitely felt like I was a lot more accurate on my serve, a little bit more.
I think in the third, I had chances to win the next game at 1-0, and I think I had a break point at one point at the beginning of the third, so I had chances to provide myself with self-belief, but Ive just got to learn from it and move on I will try to start by winning the next match- she said, as quoted by Tennis Gazette.
Focus on serve
In the future, Coco Gauff will put the greatest focus on her serve, and if she perfects it, there is no doubt that she will pose an even greater danger to her opponents.
As one of the youngest tennis players at the very top, tennis fans predict a bright future, believing that the American will dominate the tennis scene in the coming months and years.
