Alexander Zverev is certainly not having a memorable season and most of his performances in 2025 have not lived up to expectations, distancing him from the two current dominators of men's tennis Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.
The German ace had been very brilliant between the end of last year and the beginning of 2025, but that final lost decisively to Sinner at Melbourne Park demolished his certainties and the following months were a sequence of disappointments.
The former world No.2 who has won just one title this season has also begun to experience back pain in recent weeks and has had to undergo a couple of infiltrations. He was defeated by Daniil Medvedev at the Beijing ATP 500 a few days ago and had not played well at the Laver Cup in San Francisco either, losing to both Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz.

Sascha is ready for theShanghai Masters 1000
Alexander'snext tournament is the Shanghai Masters 1000, which is played on a surface that is very suitable for his game as long as his body supports him. The champion from Hamburg will also be able to benefit from the forfeit of Carlitos Alcaraz, who has chosen to skip the penultimate Masters 1000 of the season with the aim of recharging his batteries in view of the last part of the season.
"I've always felt good in Shanghai and I have really good memories related to this tournament," said Sascha before his debut. "One of the first memories that come to mind is definitely the match against Roger Federer in the quarterfinals of the 2019 edition. That day was really incredible, because I played my best tennis. I'm sure many fans still remember that clash. I have reached a final and a semifinal in this tournament, which is why I am able to play well on these courts and I hope to get an important result" he added.
