Beatriz Haddad Maia has decided to put an end to her rough and challenging 2025 season as the four-time WTA champion wants to take some time to "rest my body and mind."

After putting up three consecutive consistent seasons between 2022 and 2024 - and finishing inside the top-20 - Haddad Maia suffered a notable dip in her form and results this year. This week, the Brazilian plummeted to No. 40 in the world - which is her worst ranking since mid-2022. However, her rankings drop shouldn't be surprising, considering that she went only 16-26 in 42 matches played this year.

Following a US Open round-of-16 showing, Haddad Maia tried to bounce back in front of her home fans in Sao Paulo - but picked up a surprise loss to Renata Zarazua in the quarterfinal. Last week, the former world No. 10 went to Seoul to defend her title. That one didn't go well either since she was upset by world No. 95 Ella Seidel in the round-of-16.

Rest assured, Ill come back stronger, and the best is yet to come! Tennis, I love you. See you soon again, the 29-year-old wrote in a message posted on Instagram.

After winning 18 titles on the lower-tier, Haddad Maia made her first breakthrough on the main level during the 2022 grass season, when she captured her first two WTA titles. Since then, she has added two additional titles to her collection, as well as broken into the top-10 in 2023 June.

By concluding her 2025 season earlier than expected, Haddad Maia will likely finish the year outside the top-50. It remains to be seen if she can have a big bounce-back year in 2026.
