TC WrestleVotes reports that WWE has opened a new, permanent office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This is very interesting, as it further cements the companys commitment to the country.
WrestleMania 43 was confirmed for Saudi Arabia today. Although we dont know The Rocks status, we did hear Vince McMahon get some credit during the press conference.
WWEs longtime liaison to Saudi Arabia, John Big Gaburick, helped finalize the agreement. He was a key player in making WrestleMania 43 happen in Saudi Arabia. The event is backed by the Saudi General Entertainment Authority.
The event will be part of the Riyadh Season initiative, and all main WrestleMania week events are expected to take place in Saudi Arabia. This includes Raw, SmackDown, and the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. At this time, there is no confirmation yet on whether NXT will be involved. Planning is still in early stages.
Although this is historic news, online backlash began immediately after the announcement. WWEs official YouTube video received over 12,000 dislikes. Fans criticized the decision to choose Saudi Arabia over other locations like London. We will have to see if anything comes from that.
