During a livestream announcement from Las Vegas, WWE executives shared the news in front of a backdrop featuring major brand partners like Netflix, ESPN, and the Saudi General Entertainment Authority. Triple H followed up by posting a tweet that read:
A partnership built on history, respect, and global impact The road to 2027 starts now and its going to be epic.
But fans werent buying the corporate languageand the response was instant and overwhelmingly negative. One user summed up the sentiment from UK fans who feel snubbed after years of loyalty, tweeting: We want WrestleMania in London.
This came after John Cena previously teased the idea during WWEs 2023 Money in the Bank event in London, fueling hopes that the UK would finally get its WrestleMania moment. Another fan echoed that frustration with a pointed question: How about the UK?
The reply called out WWEs repeated focus on overseas expansion while ignoring its long-standing fanbase in cities like London, Manchester, and Glasgow.
Mockery followed quickly, with one user criticizing WWEs reliance on aging legends and questionable nostalgia acts at these international shows: Is the main event gonna be 600 year-old Undertaker vs. a guy cosplaying as Yokozuna?
This jab clearly referenced previous Saudi events that featured names like Goldberg, Shawn Michaels, and the Undertaker well past their prime. Accusations of greed flooded the replies too. One post ripped into the motives behind the decision, saying: No one wanted this. YOU SOLD OUT!
This user, like many others, believes WWE chose financial gain over fan service by continuing to partner with Saudi Arabia despite public criticism. The anger also reflected a sense of betrayal from UK fans who felt WWEs recent visits were nothing more than lip service. One user vented: You went to London for nothing!!!
That sentiment was widespread, as fans questioned why WWE would tease London for WrestleMania and then announce Riyadh instead. Several fans delivered the same clear message in different words: Should be in the United Kingdom.
