Taylor Townsend made some painful revelations during her appearance on The Pivot Podcast as the doubles world No. 1 shared that she was body-shamed by none other than her mother and grandmother.

Townsend, who finished as runner-up at this year's US Open alongside Katerina Siniakova, admitted in the past that her critics loved to body-shame her and that she had been hearing negative comments about her body appearance since starting her tennis journey. But the first people to speak negatively about the American tennis player's body weren't her critics and doubters, but her family members, who used to tell her she shouldn't be wearing swimsuits.

"And I realized that a lot of the voices and a lot of the things and a lot of the feeling that I felt and what I would see when I was looking in the mirror, it wasn't my voice. It was my mom's voice. It was my grandma's voice. 'Your stomach's too big to wear that swimsuit, you can't wear two-piece swimsuits.' I can't tell you, I didn't wear a two-piece bikini until I was 23, 24," Townsend said on The Pivot Podcast.

Townsend reveals how Serena Williams helped a few years ago

In mid-2020, Townsend announced her pregnancy. In 2021 March, she welcomed a baby boy Adin Aubrey.

On a more positive note, the 29-year-old American revealed on the same podcast that when she was pregnant, it was American tennis icon Williams who helped her with certain stuff.

Like, I got the closest with Serena when I was pregnant. I went over to her house, and she put a whole Amazon list together for me of all the things that I needed to get for the baby. And like, those times were, that was the most conversation I had ever had with her," Townsend said.
