Rick Macci firmly believes Novak Djokovic will continue with his pro tennis career but Serena Williams' childhood coach also adds a few things must happen for the Serb to lift a Grand Slam title again.

By losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the US Open semifinal, Djokovic concluded his second consecutive season without winning a Grand Slam title. What's especially disappointing is the fact that the 38-year-old Serb was a semifinalist in all four Majors this year, but simply didn't have an answer for Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner - Note, he played against Alexander Zverev in the Australian Open semifinal but was forced to retire due to injury after only one match played.

Alcaraz and Sinner have clearly separated themselves from the rest of the field. And with that being said, some believe that it will be incredibly difficult for Djokovic to win it all on the biggest stage again.

Macci: Djokovic likes to compete and he'll keep playing... He needs a good draw

I think hell keep playing simply because, once again, kind of like Venus [Williams] but obviously its different he just loves the competition. Why would you want to put your body through that, get up every day, he has a family youre not doing it for a paycheck! He just loves the competition. And I think if he feels he can win, okay, hell continue to play," Macci told Tennis365.

Macci has no doubt that Djokovic will try to win his 25th Grand Slam title next year. But he also believes that the Serb will need some help for that to happen.

And if the draw would break correctly, I know that happens with anybody, but lets face it, if the draw broke correctly, if Alcaraz or Sinner got hurt, or you got a couple of walkovers if things broke for him, absolutely [he could win]," Macci said.
