Aryna Sabalenka says biomechanics coach Gavin MacMillan helped her find a way out of "a desperate situation," and hopes the biomechanics expert can do the same with Coco Gauff.

When Gauff hit the practice court at the US Open, it came with a bombshell after she was spotted under the watchful eye of MacMillan and without coach Matt Daly, who was fired. The news of the world No. 2 hiring a biomechanics coach spread like a wildfire - but in a positive way - as many have been calling on the 21-year-old to make that move for quite some time.

In 2022, Sabalenka totally lost her confidence in her serve and she hit a stunning total of 428 double faults that season. But after giving a chance to MacMillan, the Belarusian completely fixed her serving issue and has since won her first three Grand Slams and reached the world No. 1 spot.

With Sabalenka, MacMillan managed to quickly understand what was the issue in the technical department. When asked about Gauff's move, the Belarusian praised the move once again gave credit to her ex-biomechanics coach.

Sabalenka on Gauff hiring MacMillan: I wish them the best, hope everything goes well

Im really grateful for his help during the times that were really difficult. He helped me a lot with my serve. I was really desperate and I was ready to change everything, to change my serve to improve and finally get back into the right rhythm. So for me these changes took about a few weeks. But everyone is different, and I wish them both the best, hoping that everything goes well," the world No. 1 told L'Equipe.

In one of her past interviews, Sabalenka admitted that after fixing her serve, only then she realized that she previously didn't have enough to win a Grand Slam.

Meanwhile, Gauff has fired 320 double faults so far this year. But with MacMillan on board, the count starts now.
