Tommy Fleetwood is doing great at this year's Tour Championship. The English golfer currently occupies the leading position and seems to be well on his way to achieving his first PGA victory. However, there are many obstacles in front of him in the next two days before he can reach the trophy.
Keegan Bradley, the captain of the US team, is delighted with the Englishman's game, emphasizing his abilities as a golfer and his mental strength.
Tommy reacted to Bradley's statements, thanking him for such words.
However, shortly after that, he put an accent on his performances, aware that at times he was not playing as well as he should have.
Tommy wants to remain optimistic no matter what obstacles await him.
An experienced golfer wants everyone, including his children, to have this kind of mindset.
It means a lot. I just want to continue to work and try and be one of the best golfers in the world and compete with these guys week in and week out. I suppose when you have had enough near misses you learn that there is always another week coming up, there is absolutely no point in letting things have a negative impact on what youre doing next week because every week starts again. I think I try to see the positives in everything while letting the negatives motivate me. I try to have that mindset and thats what I would want to tell my kids. Thats how I would want them to look at it, so I have to be the one to show them that.."- he said, as quoted by The Golfing Gazette.
Tommy's mindset
The English golfer is aware that he will certainly have many challenges in the future. Looking at his performances in the past, it is clear that Fleetwood has been unlucky in many moments.
Aware that if he gets annoyed and has violent reactions, he can only bring additional problems, Tommy realized that he had to change his mindset.
He is now much more composed and relaxed on the golf courses, but experience seems to be the main thing with most golfers.
There has been plenty of near misses, especially recently and I think every time it happens I think the best possible scenario is that I put myself in that position again. If I win, amazing, if I dont, I dont. I would rather have been there and not got it done and learn from that experience and come back again. I will be that much smarter and much more experienced and more motivated.
