McIlroy, MacIntyre, Hatton, Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, and Englishman Justin Rose are guaranteed to play for Team Europe captain Luke Donald when the team defends its Ryder Cup title from September 26-28 in Farmingdale, New York. Donald's team has one more automatic berth available, which depends on either Irishman Shane Lowry or Dane Rasmus Hojgaard.

Team USA already has its six automatic qualifiers. Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, and Xander Schauffele already had spots before playing last weekend. Russell Henley, Harris English, and Bryson DeChambeau secured their spots on Sunday.
Donald and Team USA captain Keegan Bradley are expected to announce the other six captain's picks next week.
The rules of golf are relatively complicated compared to other sports because they are played outdoors, close to nature and animals. Respecting the rules is a fundamental element in the game of golf, which, almost always based on self-control and the free conscience of the players, often sees distorted results, sometimes consciously, but often unconsciously or through carelessness, due to the failure of many players to comply with the rules of the game. In addition to the rules, golf adheres to a code of conduct, known as etiquette, which generally means playing the game with due respect for the golf course and other players. Etiquette is an essential component of this sport.
