Coco Gauff's ex-coach Brad Gilbert seemingly approves the American's latest coaching change as the 64-year-old highlights it's a result-driven game and you simply have to make moves in your best interest.

Just a few months ago, Gauff was on a tear as she made back-to-back WTA 1000 finals in Madrid and Rome before lifting her second title at the French Open. Since then, it has been a struggle for the world No. 2, who finished the grass season with a 0-2 record and has only posted a 4-2 record on hard courts heading into the US Open. And she is once again mightily struggling with her serve and double faults.

On Tuesday, ESPN dropped a bombshell when they reported that Gauff ditched coach Matt Daly just before the US Open. Also, ESPN revealed that the 21-year-old hired biomechanics expert Gavin MacMillan to help her with her serve. Daly was added to the American's team last September, after the 21-year-old parted ways with Gilbert.

Gilbert defends Gauff's coaching change

Coco seems like such a nice gal - balanced - (no pun). How common is it to change coaches so often? My guess it happens a good deal throughout the spectrum of ranked players," a fan asked Gilbert.

The 64-year-old responded: "Its a results business, she actually hasnt switched that much."

Gauff has worked with her father Cori throughout her entire career. In the summer of 2023, the American hired Gilbert and Pere Riba. That move paid off massively since she became a Grand Slam champion at the US Open two months later.

With Daly, Gauff won another Grand Slam. Now, she will hope biomechanics coach MacMillan can help her improve her serve and find some stability.
