Simona Halep reveals she is a fan of Iga Swiatek's tennis, to the point where she enjoys closely observing the way the Pole plays and analyzing it.
The Romanian, a former two-time Grand Slam champion, picked up a knee injury shortly after being cleared to return from her doping last year. And after missing the start of 2025, the former world No. 1 announced that she decided to play one more time in Cluj-Napoca and say goodbye to tennis in front of her home fans.
Since retiring from pro tennis, Halep has had more time for herself and to explore some new hobbies. In an interview with Romanian media, the 33-year-old was asked if she still watches tennis. That's when the former tennis star revealed that she watched Swiatek annihilating Amanda Anisimova 6-0 6-0 in the Wimbledon final.

"I dont watch much tennis, but from time to time, I do tune in to matches. I really like Swiatek because shes a complete player. I watched the Wimbledon final since I was in London to attend the match. She has excellent positioning and moves very well. Im analyzing things I never used to analyze when I was a player. I found her strong. Before, if youd asked me to talk about it, I wouldnt have noticed all this," the former world No. 1 told Golazo.
During her career, Halep clashed against Swiatek four times and they split victories. Of those four matches played, the one that stands was the one that came during the 2020 French Open - that year, the Pole crushed the Romanian 6-1 6-2 en route to winning her maiden Grand Slam title.
Since beating Halep en route to capturing her first Slam, Swiatek has added five more Majors to her collection and has been one of the top players for years.
