The Man is still coming around as Womens IC Champion.
SummerSlam Saturday saw plenty of title matches and some unexpected moments. Night two also brought some important moments, but Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria wanted to leave fans talking.
On SummerSlams second night, Becky Lynch made her way out to defend the WWE Womens IC Title against Lyra Valkyria. She also did so with new entrance music.
This was a hard-fought match as they fought around the ringside area, taking full advantage of the no DQ and no count-out stipulation. Becky Lynch beat Lyra with a kendo stick in the ring and a chain was even used across the challengers face. Becky Lynch paid homage to Happy Gilmore 2 with a golf swing with the weapon, but Lyra moved.
The match continued with weapons getting introduced via a tool box that Becky Lynch retrieved from under the ring. Eventually, Becky beat Lyra with the tool box and she got some zipties out to tie the challengers hands together. Becky got a wrench out next and proceeded to beat Lyras body with the tool as she was helpless to protect herself. Lyra kicked out after a pinfall attempt, but she got to her feet only to eat a Becksploder suplex. Then Lynch hung Lyra up on the ring post and beat her with a kendo stick over and over again, even breaking the first one as she got a second to continue the assault. Still Lyra kicked out of a pin attempt when they got back in the ring.
Lyra seemingly had her hands freed, but she put them back in the bindings. Then she fought back with her hands tied, and then she disappeared under the ring, only to re-emerge with a fire extinguisher. She shot Becky Lynch with the extinguisher, and then she went back under the ring and magically got her hands out of the zipties. This gave Lyra a chance to assault Lynch with a kendo stick.
Lyra nailed a Nightwing off the ring steps, but she couldnt pin Becky Lynch on the outside of the ring. They returned to the squared circle, where Becky nailed a Manhandle Slam on a couple chairs for another near fall. They moved outside where Becky literally wrapped a chair around Lyra, and she beat her against the announce table before kicking that chair through her sternum. At that point, Becky got a crowbar, but just as she was about to literally murder her fellow Irishwoman, Bayley showed up out of nowhere to grab the weapon. Lynch tried to get Bayley to kill Lyra, but she threw the crowbar down before starting to beat Lynch around the ring until Lynch moved and Bayley missed a running knee to send her over the barricade.
Suddenly, Lyra flew in out of nowhere to send Becky through a table. They returned to the ring, where Bayley accidentally hit Lyra with a fist wrapped in a chain to give Becky the win to retain her Womens IC Title.
Lyra Valkyria and Becky Lynch have great chemistry with each other, and interesting backstory. Only time will tell what is in their future, but the two are probably going to be involved in each others careers for a very long time to come.
