A Connecticut judge has officially hit the brakes on Janel Grants attempt to push forward with discovery in her legal battle against Dr. Carlon Colkerat least for now.
On Tuesday, Judge Sheila Ozalis sided with Colker by blocking Grants effort to begin depositions and collect documents immediately. The ruling forces both sides to return to court for a formal hearing before any discovery moves forward. That hearing is now set for August 11.
Grant must submit a detailed list of names she wants to depose and specific documents shes requesting by August 7. This comes after her earlier filing sought a range of materials, including travel records involving Colker and Vince McMahonspecifically any trips they took together to Tijuana, Mexico, between 2019 and 2022. The reasoning behind that specific request hasnt been explained publicly.
A representative for Grant responded to the judges decision with confidence, saying, We very much look forward to presenting our arguments before the court. Meanwhile, Colkers side stayed silent, declining to comment on whether they would push to delay the newly scheduled August 11 hearing.
Colker, who runs the Peak Wellness clinic in Greenwich and has treated celebrities for years, is accused by Grant of giving her unmarked pills and mystery IV infusionsclaims he strongly denies. He insists that his legal team has already handed over the relevant medical records. Grants side disagrees, maintaining that essential materials are still missing.
The case itself isnt a regular lawsuit yet. It was filed as a petition for pre-suit discovery, which under Connecticut law allows someone to gather evidence before launching a formal legal action. But the judge must first decide whether this discovery is necessary to prevent a delay or failure of justice. That decision is expected to be shaped during the upcoming hearing.
This legal drama also includes another twist: Colker has filed a separate defamation lawsuit against Grants lawyer, Ann Callis. In response, Callis and her firm, the Holland Law Firm, filed a motion this week asking the court to toss that case out.
As for the broader pictureGrant is also pursuing a separate federal sex trafficking lawsuit against Vince McMahon and WWE, and she claims her visits to Colkers clinic were part of that larger abuse.
