Jordan Spieth came to the Wnydham Championship extremely motivated to achieve a success. The 32-year-old hasnt looked like himself for a while, and climbing out of this slump has been a real challenge.
While on the one hand, Spieth was a golfer who once dominated the golf scene, it seems that now he is far from the very top of the golf scene.
Spieth played a solid round at the last PGA tournament, but one moment drew special attention.
The American golfer had an interesting decision on the par-4 18th hole, after a tee shot that wasn't that great. The 32-year-old managed to get out of the situation with a shot over a creek that left him in a bunker up near the green. The American golfer, on the other hand, saved par with a great 15-foot putt.
In an interview with the media, the 32-year-old stressed that his decision was not particularly smart, but he is a golfer who looks forward to challenges and moments that bring tension.
Spieth knew he could have created even more massive problems for himself, but his passion and desire are sometimes stronger than anything.
"I ended up in a pretty bad spot, definitely could have punched out and probably had a good look and that probably should have been in play," Spieth said, as quoted by Golf Digest.
"It's just really hard for me to play the smart play if I see anything else.
I didn't mean to hit it in the bunker. I walked away with a 4 that I truly didn't deserve. I hit a great putt and that was the only shot that I could say was a really good one on that hole."
Reactions
Fans were delighted with his decision, and there are fewer and fewer such golfers who want to offer fans excitement and the necessary adrenaline.
Spieth, on the other hand, is a completely different golfer profile; the one who is ready to take risks at every moment, focusing on the benefits, rather than the disadvantages that one single shot can bring him.
