There has been a lot of talk about Alberto Del Rio possibly going back to WWE after his AAA exit. While theres no guarantee of that happening, it appears WWE is allegedly considering a controversial gimmick for Del Rios return.
While speaking on Lucha Libre Online, Hugo Savinovich talked about Alberto Del Rio after his exit from AAA. He said that people in WWE are impressed by Alberto, including big names like The Undertaker.
Hugo mentioned he was one of the first to report that The Undertaker was at the AAA event in Juan de la Barrera. That matters, because when someone like The Undertaker hugs you and says, I know what youre doing, its not something he says lightly.
Hugo also said its not just his opinion. According to him, Wrestling Observer confirmed that many people in WWE, wrestlers, creative team members, and others are supporting the idea of Alberto coming back.
Hugo noted that Alberto has earned the respect of Mexican wrestling fans, who are known to be some of the most passionate in the world. He defended titles not just in Mexico, but in places like Qatar, Puerto Rico, and the United States.
Hugo stated that Del Rio is more than just a wrestler since hes a star. Thats why some important people in WWE are saying, Hes ready. To them, Alberto is a WWE product through and through.
Savinovich revealed that WWE has even talked about giving Del Rio a new version of his old character. One idea is to bring him back with his assistant and the Mexican flag, like before. But then theres a twist since he takes off the Mexican flag shirt to reveal an American flag and says a new catchphrase: Make WWE Great Again.
Del Rio would tell people hes no longer from Mexico or San Luis Potos, but now from Washington, D.C. Its a bold move, especially for a Mexican wrestler, but Savinovich believes fans would understand its just part of the show.
While Del Rios future in WWE hasnt been confirmed, its clear theres interest behind the scenes. It was reported that there are no plans for Del Rio to go to the U.S., but that could change. Therefore, well have to wait and see if Del Rio does come back to WWE eventually since the door isnt completely shut right now.
