WWE and AAAs current relationship has seen quite a few AAA talent work with WWE for various crossover shows already. As their relationship continues, it appears WWE has changed their approach to signing new talent for AAA.

Speaking toSuperluchas, AAA figure Ernesto Campo revealed that WWE has changed its approach to signing talent. Instead of going after wrestlers from CMLL, they now want to focus on signing independent wrestlers.

They might still bring in former CMLL stars at some point, but its not a big goal anymore. This change will help create better competition and give more chances to indie wrestlers. Older veterans who are still trying to stay in the spotlight from their fame 20 to 25 years ago will slowly be pushed out. AAA wants to feel fresh and different from what fans usually see in the U.S., with bigger and more exciting matches.

When asked if this meant AAA is no longer scouting CMLL talent but is actively watching indie wrestlers, he confirmed it. Campo said they are keeping an eye on many indie performers in small venues across Mexico, including those whove never been on TV but bring strong ideas.

Campo added that WWE is now interested in more than just in-ring ability, theyre also looking for personality and creativity, like what Misteriuana has shown. That means indie wrestlers should be prepared because a WWE opportunity could come when they least expect it.

This comes after we have reported that AAA is set to open a WWE-aligned Performance Center in Mexico next year, which will serve a similar purpose to NXT when it comes to training new talent. Therefore, well have to wait and see what talent WWE will end up signing for AAA in the coming months.

What do you think about WWE and AAA shifting focus to independent Mexican talent instead of CMLL stars? Sound off in the comments.
