Syuris AEW debut was barely in the rearview before she had to deliver a tough update. Just days after making her surprise entrance at All In: Texas, the Japanese wrestling star is headed for elbow surgery.
In a post to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Syuri broke the news to fans and admitted the injury had been bothering her for some time.
Syuris AEW debut came after weeks of silence following her departure from Stardom. She dropped the IWGP Womens Championship to Sareee in June and soon after announced she would be taking a break from Stardom to explore wrestling in the United States. While no official U.S. matches were announced at the time, AEW had plans behind the scenes.
Her return to the spotlight began with a vignette aired during ROH Supercard of Honor on Friday. The next night, Syuri shocked fans when she appeared as a surprise entrant in the Womens Casino Gauntlet Match at AEW All In: Texas inside Globe Life Field.
Syuris AEW debut felt like the beginning of something big, but for now, the road to recovery comes first. The timing may be rough, but if anyone knows how to fight through pain and return stronger, its Syuri.
