Cody Rhodes may have bested Randy Orton in the finals of the King of the Ring tournament at WWE Night of Champions, but he doesnt think their story is overnot by a long shot.
In a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Undisputed, Rhodes reflected on the clash with his former Legacy teammate and revealed hes got much bigger plans in mind when it comes to Orton.
He explained that the structure of the King of the Ring tournament offered a different kind of buildup for their match, but the real drama between the two is still waiting to unfold.
The Legacy history runs deepRhodes and Orton go back to 2008, and now, nearly two decades later, theyre squaring off on the biggest stage once again.
By beating Orton, Rhodes earned a shot at John Cena and the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlamone of the biggest matches of his career. And Rhodes knows it.
As Rhodes gears up to face Cena, Orton will be stepping into a wild tag team match alongside Jelly Roll against Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul at the same event.
Codys win may have put him in the main event at SummerSlam, but if his words are any indication, we might be seeing a full-blown Cody vs. Orton feud on the road to WrestleMania next year.
