WWEs Money in the Bank Premium Live Event featured a surprise Intercontinental Championship match after Dominik Mysterio and Octagon Jr. got into a heated brawl during the Worlds Collide special earlier in the day. That altercation led to an impromptu showdown at Money in the Bankbut the end result didnt sit well with many.
During the June 8, 2025 episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer didnt hold back on how the match was handled.
Meltzer emphasized that Octagon Jr. wasnt protected at all, and WWEs booking sent the wrong message during an event meant to spotlight crossover talent.
Octagon Jr.s WWE debut shouldve been a spotlight moment, but instead it turned into a one-sided beatdown that left fans and insiders questioning what WWE was thinking. When a top AAA talent gets called up and immediately flattened, it sends a loud messageand not the good kind. If this was WWEs idea of honoring their working relationship with AAA, they might want to rethink the playbook before they burn the bridge entirely.
