Goldbergs final WWE match is becoming more than just speculationits now a calculated rollout thats kicking off very soon, and hes got a hand in how it all unfolds.
After it was reported that WWE was eyeing Atlanta, Georgia as the destination for Goldbergs farewell bout, more details are falling into place. According to Fightful Select, We were told that the announcement for Atlanta Saturday Night Main Event and start to Goldbergs appearance there should kick off in short order.
That update tracks perfectly with what Ringside News previously reported: WWE has penciled in Saturday, July 12 for Saturday Nights Main Eventthe same night AEW will be hosting All In. The date isnt locked in publicly just yet, but all signs are pointing to WWE making a strategic move with Goldbergs retirement match rollout on the same night as one of AEWs biggest shows of the year.
Whats especially interesting is Goldberg isnt just waiting to be told when and wherehes actually involved in crafting how this moment is revealed. In a recent interview with My San Antonio, the WWE Hall of Famer confirmed, Ive been approved for some creative control of the rollout plans for the dates announcement
Thats a rare level of influence, and Goldberg is treating this moment like a full rebuild. Hes training hard at Black Diamond Martial Arts in Boerne, Texas, and taking his return seriously.
I feel a little bit better, Ive gained a little bit of weight man. Done a little kickboxing on the weekends. Im getting there man, Ive got a little bit of time left. Slowly but surely, Rome wasnt built in a day.
The 57-year-old also mentioned that staying healthy has been a top priority this time around. Believe me, its been really tough to control myself but I think Im on a good schedule. Im injury free as of right now.
He compared the process to restoring a classic car: Its like rebuilding a car. Youve got to strip it down to the bare minimum and sequentially build it in a logical form I cant get overzealous and put shit on before its time. Its a very slow process but I think the way Im going about it is hopefully gonna work.
While WWE has yet to announce the match officially, sources confirm that Goldberg has signed off on creative plansand the name GUNTHER continues to be linked to the bout after their faceoff at WWE Bad Blood.
Goldberg isnt treating this like a standard sendoff. Its personal. Its deliberate. And its on his terms.
