WWE SmackDown went down in the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio this week for their May 9 episode. A lot of fans showed up to see John Cena during his retirement run, and the 17-time World Champion did not disappoint.
John Cena shocked the pro wrestling world during WrestleMania 41 when he won the Undisputed World Title from Cody Rhodes. This was a huge move for the shoo-in WWE Hall of Famer during his last year as an active competitor with the company.
John Cena closed out the show this week with a promo. He mentioned how Randy Orton wasnt on the show this week, and then he walked fans down a few memories hes had with Orton over the years.
He cut a passionate promo about what is at stake at Backlash, because he will wrestle Orton for the last time this Saturday. He promised that winners write the history books as he continued. He said that Randy Orton has been lying to himself for years, and he said that the Viper is only in WWE thanks to his family. He proceeded to say that Orton doesnt show Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect at all.
John Cena then said that he will make Randy Orton, just like his 2006 drug test: a failure. Then he made a point to say that he is the Greatest of All Time, once again. Cena closed out his promo and then someone in a mask came in for an RKO, but Cena stopped them and hit an Attitude Adjustment. Then the actual Randy Orton got in the ring and hit an RKO on John Cena to close out the show as he posed with the WWE World Title.
We will have to see what goes down for John Cena as he continues his World Title reign. Randy Orton will be a tough opponent at Backlash in Saint Louis on May 10, which will also be a tough crowd for Cena since The Viper hails from The Lou.
