Los Angeles Rams kicker Harrison Mevis got fired on his day off. And nobody in Washington got fired ... but do you know how poorly you had to mess up to get a negative reaction from Magic Johnson? But one thing that remains the same: The NFL winds shift drastically from week to week. Two weeks ago, Matt LaFleur was going to be fired by the Green Bay Packers. New England Patriots QB Drake Maye was worse than Steve Grogan. And the Los Angeles Chargers' offense was terrible.Fast-forward to this week: LaFleur is the greatest coach in Packers history. Maye is better than Tom Brady. And the Chargers' offense is still terrible. One of my favorite parts of working with ESPN is our cool meeting with the fantasy sports editors every Monday. We get to deep dive and talk about the things that really drive us, and Chargers QB Justin Herbert is a huge topic of conversation.People have asked for weeks if they should drop Herbert, and that time has finally come. There are so many other quarterbacks you select. Don't let the sunk cost keep you with Herbert. I've told you before, I get locked into that decluttering algorithm on Instagram. One of the things they tell you is that you need to go into your closet, pull out an article of clothing and then ask if you would buy that again.Let's put that into a fantasy football perspective. If you had the chance to draft Herbert again, would you? Absolutely not. Here are some guys who would be much better starts. I know, that's basically everyone in the NFL right now. I mean, not Atlanta Falcons third-string QB Cooper Rush, but almost everyone else. If you don't mind this week, here are some of my favorites.Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young started the season with three touchdown passes in each of his first two games. He has had at least two touchdown passes in three of his past four. He went into the bye week as the leader in passing yards. Young will keep that momentum riding into this week, so make sure he's back in your lineup once again. Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud -- drafted just behind Young in 2023 -- has been great this season. Stroud had two solid games to start the season, but his downfall came in Week 3, when everybody was streaming him, throwing for just 167 and a touchdown. However, he has been good over the past two weeks. And I'm not 100% buying into narratives ... just kidding, I am. Reuniting him with WR Marvin Harrison Jr. has me buying into this narrative. I'm in the minority, but I still believe in Harrison.I swore this season that I would not play any Pittsburgh Steelers this year, but how times have changed. I'm starting Jaylen Warren at running back without hesitation. I put in a claim this week for WR Germie Bernard. The biggest shocker for me is the fact that I picked up Aaron Rodgers on a whim, and now, I'm not putting him back down. I don't know what I've become. He has had at least 235 passing yards and three touchdowns in each of his past three games. The Bucs' defense isn't a pushover by any means, but I'm still in on Rodgers. We also like Las Vegas Raiders QB Kirk Cousins, especially this week. Cousins had three consecutive games with at least 20 fantasy points before the unpleasantness happened in New England. But, like I was just saying previously, we won't overreact to one bad week. The matchup against the Bills is pretty great, as their defense has struggled this year. The Bills are coming off an overtime road game, during which they allowed Rams QB Matthew Stafford to go for more than 300 passing yards with three touchdowns. This one will test your mettle: New Orleans Saints QB Tyler Shough was awful in Week 5. He had fewer fantasy points than Rush. But again, we're committed to not overreacting to a one-week blip. I'm looking at the matchup against the New York Giants, who have been vulnerable to quarterbacks. And I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Giants QB (and former Saint) Jameis Winston. But he has been volatile this year, scoring 18-plus fantasy points in two games, and then having fewer than seven points in the other two. There is no in-between. I love this matchup against the Saints, who have struggled against the pass this year. The Saints are also vulnerable against tight ends, so if you can steam with Isaiah Likely, you could be in business this week.
