Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega has his eyes back on a piece of gold he has a lot of history with, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. He recently attacked current champion Yota Tsuji at NJPW King of Pro Wrestling 2026, who Omega believes isn't doing his job by being the world champion of New Japan Pro Wrestling. This has led to Omega getting a three-way match against Tsuji and Boltin Oleg at NJPW Power Struggle 2026 to earn his shot at the champion, but Omega is already thinking to where he wants his title shot. In a translated interview with Tokyo Sports, Omega revealed that winning the title isn't the only thing he wants to achieve, as he actually wants to win the title at one of wrestling's most famous venues."Japan is my second home, so I want to win the belt in front of New Japan's fans, and that's the biggest stage I deserve. So, of course, I'm aiming for the [Tokyo] dome. In my time, Okada was too strong, and to win the belt, I had no choice but to become a very strong all-rounder. But the current IWGP champions have almost obvious weaknesses. Tsuji is also very strong, but he lacks experience. To me, it seems like he's scared of failing on the world stage, so maybe that's why he's running away from my challenge. The Tokyo Dome will once again host NJPW's biggest show of the year, WrestleKingdom 21, on January 4, a venue Omega has wrestled at multiple times and even defended the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 13. However, Omega wants to win the title at the iconic venue not just for his own achievements, but because he wants to show the NJPW roster what a real champion looks like."There may be many fighters who want to beat Tsuji, but when I look at Ryogoku, I feel that few truly admire or respect him. Everyone seems to be just waiting for their turn. But if I become champion, everyone will understand that winning won't be easy, so my motivation will rise and I can practice even harder. Right now, Tsuji is just one step ahead of everyone. I want to become a champion who can't even see my back."Please credit "Tokyo Sports" when using quotes from this article, and give a H/T to Figure Four Online for the transcription.
