Fatal Influence were supposed to defend their WWE Women's Tag Team Championships against the team of Charlotte Flair and Tatum Paxley on the October 9 episode of "WWE SmackDown." However, Jade Cargill, Michin, and B-Fab had something to say about that and attacked Flair backstage, which led to Alexa Bliss taking her place.Lainey Reid and Fallon Henley should have wished for Cargill and her crew to not get involved because in the end, it was Bliss and Paxley who emerged victorious as the new champions.Reid and Henley had control for the first half of the match, working over Paxley throughout the commercial break and preventing her from tagging in Bliss. The tide turned when Bliss got the tag as the momentum swung back towards her team, but the champions kept finding ways to get the upper hand. The referee even caught Reid and Henley trying to use each other for illegal leverage to gain a pinfall.Reid went after Bliss on the outside but Bliss caught one half of the champions and hit her with a Sister Abigail. Meanwhile in the ring, Paxley went for a 450 Splash but rolled through as Henley moved out of the way, but Henley couldn't avoid getting tied up by the challenger, who hit a Cemetery Drive for the win.The win marks the first title victory for Paxley on WWE's main roster, and her first title in WWE since June of this year when she held the WWE NXT Women's North American Championship. As for Bliss, this victory kicks off her fifth reign as one half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions after having two reigns with Nikki Cross, one reign with Asuka, and another with the aforementioned Charlotte Flair. She also becomes only the third woman in WWE history after Asuka and Raquel Rodriguez to have held the titles five times.
