Cody Rhodes has paid tribute to the late AEW star Pac, highlighting what a great wrestler and person he was.Rhodes appeared in WWE's tribute to Pac and began by talking about how highly he thought of him as a person and that his death was a shock to him and everyone in the pro wrestling world. "The American Nightmare" said that he wasn't extremely close to the late star but recalled the memories they shared and spoke glowingly about Pac's qualities that impressed him."Him and I, we weren't extremely close, but if you look at your career and you see these milestone moments, and then you look over and there he is. Or in his case, there you were, whether that was trying to climb a ladder that was very difficult to climb, with him as Neville and me doing Stardust. And then that actually being able to culminate in this really, really exciting Barclays Center SummerSlam moment that did change my career and gave me an incredibly bright moment," he said. "And thinking about a car with him and Brody, Big Rig, debating who had better exports, Newcastle in the United Kingdom or Rochester, New York. And now thinking that like neither are here. Far, far too young.""The American Nightmare" touched upon Pac's incredible in-ring ability, stating that no one came close to him in the ring and pointing out that his "efficiency, skill, and safety" made him stand out.
Cody Rhodes shared the sentiments of many of his peers by praising Pac's humility, despite being one of the most talented stars of his time."The biggest thing about Ben that I think everyone will probably echo the same sentiment was how incredibly humble and kind [he was]. And those just sound like words, but if you're in an industry that's ego-filled and selfish and all about 'me, me, me,' and then you find someone who's more talented than 99% of the people, and it's not about him," added Rhodes. "Even before I knew him, you heard about this guy from Dragon Gate and what he could do. He had almost a mythical knowledge around the different locker rooms."Rhodes recalled something his sister often says, that heaven has the best matches and said he believes that is especially true now."My sister always says heaven has the best matches. And I think that's true now. But I know with you up there, there's some old-timers who are up in heaven, sitting on the outside of the ring and many people will tell you that they'd probably disagree with the psychology or the high spots or whatever crazy move you're going to do. But the reality is they are sitting there and they are enjoying it just as much as every fan whoever got to see you and had the honor of watching you perform as I had the honor of being in there with you," concluded Rhodes. The WWE star believes Pac's wrestling style was so influential that future wrestlers will emulate it, but he hopes they also learn about the person he was outside the ring.
