The AEW locker room suffered back-to-back tragedies in recent weeks, with the loss of "The Butcher" Andy Williams at age 48, and the death of Benjamin Satterley, Pac, just three weeks later, at age 40. Someone who is no stranger to passings in the wrestling industry, Eric Bischoff, discussed the recent deaths and tribute shows on "83 Weeks." Bischoff said it's emotional for everyone involved, even if you didn't have a close relationship with your peer."You still feel the emotion everybody else is feeling," Bischoff said. "To have to go out and perform as a character and focus on what you're doing in the ring for your own safety as well as the person you're in there with, has got to be challenging."Co-host Conrad Thompson said that while he wasn't saying there was any foul play, sometimes "life just throws you a curveball," the recent passings reminded him of an era in the 1990s, early 2000s, where it felt as if a lot of guys in their early 40s were dying. Bischoff wasn't as convinced."Every once in a while, someone will get struck by lightning, but you've got two guys, at 40 years old, something's going on," he said. "It is not natural. It's not something that you can just go, 'Sometimes, something happens.' It's concerning and hopefully we're not seeing a pattern like we experienced back in the 90s when it was common, I guess. Relatively speaking. It happened too often, let's put it that way. Let's hope we're not revisiting that. But, you know, somebody might want to take a look at that."Causes of death for Williams and Satterley have yet to be released by officials. Initial reports indicated Satterley's death did not appear suspicious. If you use any quotes from this article, please credit "83 Weeks" and provide a h/t to Wrestling Inc. for the transcription.
