Picture date: Saturday October 3, 2026.Weve always played with high energy off the ball and a very aggressive style off the ball, to high press. Now we added another layer, the intensity was very high on the ball.We did a lot of runs, a lot of counter movements, high intensity runs and invested a lot in counter pressing. Its the next step. You need to be ready for the next one and not get carried away by what you did before.Another clean sheet on Tuesday would give England three consecutive wins without conceding for the first time this year, having last achieved that sequence during their 2025 World Cup qualifying campaign. The Czech Republic find themselves at the opposite end of the standings following a difficult start under Santi Denia. They returned from the World Cup having collected only one point before beginning their Nations League campaign with three successive defeats.Croatia beat the Czechs 2-1 in their opening fixture before England recorded a 2-0 victory in Prague.Denias team then travelled to face world champions Spain on Saturday and suffered another defeat, this time going down 3-1.The Czech Republic have now gone six matches without a victory across all competitions, losing each of their last four. The UEFA Nations League Table UEFA Nations League 2026 World League A Group C #TeamPlayedWonDrawnLostGFGAGDPtsLast 3 1 Spain330010469 W W W 2 England320111386 W W L 3 Croatia3102312-93 L L W 4 Czechia300327-50 L L L Position 1, 2 : Play Offs: Quarter-finals Position 3 : Relegation Playoffs Position 4 : Relegation Team News for England v CzechiaNico OReilly had already withdrawn from the squad before Saturdays game, but Tuchel otherwise has plenty of options available as he considers rotating his starting XI.However, England will be without Alex Scott, who has withdrawn through injury. Tuchel said: With Alex, its a strange one, Im very sad about it. He trained in full before Croatia, did extra work after the training sessions, we knew he was in treatment but there were only green lights from him and the medics. When we were aware there was slight discomfort during the match and asked if he wanted to come off he said no. After the match, he said he could have played 90 minutes and didnt feel an injury.Even before the scan he didnt feel injured so its a strange one. There was zero risk taken from our side.Tuchel added that injury dropouts are common on international breaks and something he has had to adapt to.This is always the case when you name a squad.Im never confident with a Friday press conference ahead of games on Saturday and Sunday. Could we not just wait until the Monday and make it easier for all of us?Its just what it is. From 23 or 24 players, two or three had to pull out. I can assure everyone that player welfare is priority number one.But new training style and training times, different positions to play maybe, increase the chance of injury. The Czech Republic will definitely be without Krejci after the defender was sent off against Spain.Denia can at least welcome Pavel Sulc back from suspension after the attacking midfielder missed Saturdays defeat in Spain following his red card against England.Vladimir Coufal remains a doubt after missing the Spain game because of a knee problem, meaning Denia may once again have to reshuffle his defensive options.Expected line-ups for England v CzechiaEngland: Pickford; Alexander-Arnold, Branthwaite, Chalobah, Hall; Lewis-Skelly, Anderson; Saka, Rogers, Eze; Kane.Czech Republic: Kinsky; Sacek, Chaloupek, Vitik, Slama; Kral, Sadilek; Radosta, Sulc, Lingr; Hlozek.
