FTR's Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler have always been portrayed as a throwback tag team, often being accompanied by a manager. Since April 2025, FTR has been accompanied byStokely Hathaway, who has added a desperate heel dynamic to their team.During an interview with "SBNation," Harwood was asked about FTR's pairing with Hathaway, which had been in their minds for some time."There is at least one person who knew it was gonna work, and that was me," he declared. "Back when we were with [WWE], we had a meeting with the boss, and we had pitched the idea of bringing in Stokely, who went by another moniker."Harwood explained that they had seen Hathaway's work on the independent circuit and that they were taken by his charisma and his sense of humor, believing that he'd gel well with their pairing. Naturally, when the three ended up in the same promotion, FTR made sure to follow up on the pairing."I had talked to Tony [Khan], and I said: 'Hey, I think there's a guy whose contract is coming up soon, and I think he'd be a great addition for AEW, but I think on top of that, he'd be a great addition for FTR and be our Jim Cornette,' and that was Stokely," he said.Wheeler then noted how good of a businessman Hathaway is, which he believes explains fits well with them as a team."He is such a talent, and he is so good at whatever he wants to be good at," he noted. Wheeler further said thatHathaway can go between being funny and serious whenever he wants to. "He brings a different element to us, a different style, a different personality.""I don't know if we could ever go for the rest of our careers without FTR and Stokely being together," Harwood proclaimed.
