Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson believes they potentially dodged a bullet with Caleb Williams hamstring injury, which is not as bad as first feared. It appeared as if Williams season might be in jeopardy when he was carted off with a non-contact injury during the Bears 9-3 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.Having gone down screaming in pain, an emotional Williams had a towel draped over his head as he left the Bears sideline.But Williams has seemingly avoided the serious injury those scenes suggested, though he looks set to miss Chicagos Week 3 meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles next Monday.Speaking to ESPN 1000 in Chicago, Johnson said: It sounds like its gonna be a week-to-week deal for him.I gotta still talk with our trainer here, well do that here shortly, and Ill have the lowdown from him, but it sounds like its week-to-week but will likely miss some time.Asked if the Bears had dodged a bullet with the injury to the 2024 first overall pick, Johnson replied: Yeah, potentially. Well see. Hes tough and he comes back from these types of things better than the average human, so well see.Tyson Bagent will get the start against the Eagles if Williams is indeed ruled out.Bagent, who signed with the Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2023, has not started since his rookie year, when he went 2-2 in four games under center for Chicago.
