WWE's Corey Graves Wants More Wrestlers To Go Over Their Matches With Him - Wrestling Inc.

As a WWE commentator, Corey Graves' primary job is to help convey to the audience the story that the wrestlers are telling in the ring. According to Graves on "Busted Open Radio," that job becomes a lot simpler when he's able to chat with the performers ahead of their match."I cannot overstate how important it is [to talk with] talent hopefully some of them are listening to this right now," Graves said. "If you tell me what you want your story to be, I will tell it for you, and I will most likely enhance it for you. I will put my spin on things and maybe do it my own way, but I will make sure that what you want conveyed is conveyed."The broadcaster then stated that the number of wrestlers who meet with either himself or another commentator before their match is "remarkably low." The performers who do share their ideas with the commentators are often the ones who rise to the top of the company's card, with Graves citing John Cena, AJ Styles, and Roman Reigns as wrestlers that would regularly meet with him before their matches."It's not rocket science there likely isn't something that's going to be totally missed but better safe than sorry," he continued. "We're sort of that last line of defense. If something doesn't go right, ... if I know where you're trying to go or what your goal was, nine times out of 10, I can spin something to get the train back on the track."Graves currently does color commentary for "WWE Raw" each week alongside play-by-play man Michael Cole, as well as serving as the English play-by-play commentator for AAA.
