EmailPrintOpen Extended ReactionsBALTIMORE -- Ravens kicker Tyler Loop missed two field goals in a 41-3 preseason victory over the Washington Commanders on Friday night, leading to boos at M&T Bank Stadium and questions about his job security.Loop is looking to come back from last season's nightmare finale, when his 44-yard, last-second miss ended Baltimore's season eight months ago. After missing wide left on tries from 51 and 58 yards on Friday, Loop finished the preseason 5-of-8 (62.5%).It appeared that Ravens coach Jesse Minter, who had expressed confidence in Loop all offseason, struck a different tone following the game."You want to see makes in games," Ravens coach Jesse Minter said. "And so it's something we'll continue to look at. We'll continue to look at what the best situation is there. He has had a good camp overall, but again, it comes down to making the kicks and the pressure situations in the game. So that's something I think that we'll always be looking at to make sure that we're doing what's best for the team."The Ravens showed their level of confidence in Loop by not bringing in competition at kicker during the spring practices and training camp. But Minter was noncommittal on whether the Ravens will bring in another kicker before the Sept. 13 season opener."I think there's a million scenarios there to try to make sure that we have the best situation headed into Indy," Minter said.As the only kicker ever drafted by the Ravens, Loop was 30-of-34 (88.%) as a rookie. Loop struggled on the longer kicks, making 1-of-4 from 50 yards or longer - which was the second-worst rate in the NFL last season.Loop has had a strong summer, missing only a handful of kicks over 20 training camp practices and joint practices. In the preseason, Loop has converted from 20, 24, 42, 49 and 51 yards while missing from 49, 51 and 58 yards.After the game, Loop said "it sucks" to miss kicks but believes there's no reason for concern because he's been kicking the ball so well in practice."It's my job to transfer that to the game," Loop said. "I know the expectations is make kicks and the expectations I have for myself are higher than anyone else going to have. And tonight is not good enough."Loop said "it doesn't change anything for him" if Baltimore brought in another kicker to compete for his job."I'm confident my ball-striking," Loop said. "When I'm striking the ball good, it's really good and that has to carry over and that's all we're focused on."
